Privacy.

The short version

You can browse the site without accepting cookies and without giving us anything. Nothing about you is sold, shared or handed to advertisers, and there are no third-party tracking or advertising scripts — that part is a commitment, not a current state of affairs.

What may change is access. Most of the site is readable with no account at all, and the underlying statistics are intended to stay that way. Some features already need a free account, more may in future, and OTIS may introduce paid plans for its more involved tools. If that happens it changes what you can open, never what we collect or who we give it to.

If you create an account

An account is optional. It exists so you can keep a watchlist of players and courses, save searches you have built, export larger CSV files, and open the features that ask for an account. Creating one stores your email address, the watchlist and saved searches you choose to create, any feature request you send, your email-alert preferences, and a plan label recording which tier you are on. Nothing you do on the site can change that label; it is set by us.

That data is used only to provide those features. It is not used for marketing and there is no newsletter. If you switch on email alerts, the only mail we send is the alerts you asked for, each one carrying a link that switches them off without needing to log in. Accounts are handled by Amazon Cognito; passwords are managed there and are never visible to this site.

Analytics

OTIS records anonymous usage data through Amazon CloudWatch RUM, to see which pages get used and to catch performance problems. It is anonymous by construction rather than by promise: the client runs with cookies switched off, so there is no identity carried between visits; browsers authenticate as anonymous guests; and the recorded events carry counts only. No IP address, no user identifier and nothing you type is recorded — a search is logged as “a search happened”, never as the text you searched for.

What stays on your device

Your light or dark theme choice, and the column and sort preferences you set on the data tables, are stored in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and are not sent to any server. Clearing your browser storage removes them.

Our use of AI

OTIS is built with the help of AI-assisted software development tools. They are used the way any other development tool is used — to write and maintain the code that runs this site, and to help draft the written explanations on pages like this one. Everything they produce is reviewed before it ships.

Two things they are deliberately not used for. No statistic on this site is generated, estimated or rewritten by AI. Every figure is restated from published statistics, and where nothing was published, the page shows a gap rather than a generated value. The single derived number on the site, the course-fit model, is a disclosed statistical model whose inputs and weights are set out in the methodology — not an AI system, and not a black box.

And nothing you do here is sent to an AI service. Not your searches, not your account details, not your watchlist or saved searches, and not anything you type into a form. No page on this site calls an AI service at all, so there is nothing for your activity to be passed to.

Third parties

Player headshots and course photographs are served from a third-party image CDN rather than copied onto this site. As with any image embedded from another domain, your browser contacts that CDN directly to fetch them, and it can see the request. The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services, which processes requests in the ordinary course of serving pages.
